Majority-minority state - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Majority-minority state is a term used to describe a U.S. state in which a majority of the state's population differs from the national majority population.
As a result, states with a minority population of roughly 35% or 40% are likely to become majority-minority in the near future due to this "Statewide White Flight".
For instance, a growing minority population in a state almost equally split between whites and non-whites can accelerate the process of becoming a minority-majority state faster than one might imagine, as the White majority may emigrate to other states or territories in large numbers as more people become uncomfortable with their inevitable "reverse minority" status.

Majoritarianism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Majoritarianism is sometimes pejoratively called ochlocracy (commonly stated as mob rule) or tyranny of the majority by its opponents.
Majority rule (a concept closely aligned with majoritarianism) is defined as the rule that requires more than half of a polity's members who cast a vote to agree in order for the whole polity to make a decision on the measure being voted on.
Majoritarianism is a political philosophy or agenda which asserts that a majority (sometimes categorized by religion, language or some other identifying factor, sometimes not categorized at all) of the population is entitled to a certain degree of primacy in society, and has the right to make decisions that affect the society.

What is Deep Democracy? Whatever happended to majority democracy?
In other words in contrast to other ideologies Deep Democracy doesn’t consider the minority opinion as a distraction from the primary focus and goals of the majority, rather the minority opinion is a necessary and important aspect of the decision-making process that needs to be addressed.
Even today, where a practice commonly referred to as representational majority democracy is widely in place, the minority are still to an extent powerless.
Deep Democracy rests on the premise that to make a decision both the majority and the minority or ‘conflicting’ opinion is needed.

The opposite was the case for the second minority group, whose members were completely emerged in the majority group and, if they wanted to be accepted by their class-peers had to integrate themselves, as far as possible, into the majority& world-understanding and attitude structure.
Quantitatively, as the socio-politcal minority group was only marginally smaller than its majority counterpart (and, thinking of the larger groups they represent, the minority group is by far more numerous), while the ethnolinguistic minority group was made up of 17 people only compared to the over 100 of the equivalent majority group.
The attitudes revealed by the socio-political minority group thus show that these informants had already internalised the destabilisation of the century-old power hierarchy and anticipated the complete turn-around in the power distribution to be legalised a year later.
