		Makhaira (μάχαιρα, also transliterated machaira or machaera; an Ancient Greek word, *magh-, "to fight") is a term used by modern scholars to describe a type of ancient bladed weapon, generally a large knife with a slight backwards curve.
		Modern scholars distinguish the makhaira from the kopis (an ancient term of similar meaning) based on the direction of the blade curvature.
		It was replaced by the Spanish tercio, which combined the solidity of the phalanx with the flexibility and firepower of attached musket formations.

		This article has stood the test of time, though there are still some notable problems, such as referring to the "hoplon" rather than the aspis, not including the extraordinarily popular archaic bell cuirass or the Lakonian short sword as well as not commenting on the additional armour worn from the archaic to early classical period.
		The Makhaira isn't mentioned either, despite it's notable differences between the kopis.
		Just a thought, some of these might need rewriting.
