Another galley shipwreck site which has been known for a long time is in the municipality of Maksamaa, about 40 km north of Vaasa, in the outer archipelago as specified in folk tales and Golowin's report.
Study of these sites has confirmed what we had learnt from Russian sources, while the finds themselves are consistent with written references to the equipment of the men and the ships, the booty from Umeå, and the little-known material culture of the period.
