Jamaica Gleaner - A dream st ill unfulfilled - The Poetry Society remembers what could have been - Sunday September 23, 2001
The Society was an outgrowth of a group called Poets in Unity, which comprised students of the Edna Manley College, among them, Tommy Ricketts (the current president), Tomlin Ellis of Hot 102, Malachi Smith and Oliver Smith, both now residing in USA.
It was also a time when the genres and sensibilities of a more 'Jamaicanised' poetic culture were being practised by significant figures such as Oku Onoura, Lorna Goodison, Mikey Smith, Jean 'Binta' Breeze and Mutabar-uka.
The group was born out of a somewhat revolutionary idealism, especially because of the increasing popularity of dub poetry.

BBC - Jazz Review - Wadada Leo Smith's Golden Quartet, The Year of the Elephant
The dreaded word 'supergroup' may be in order here; we have pianist Anthony Davis (whose association with Smith stretches back to the mid 70s and who's no mean composer himself), legendary Art Ensemble of Chicago bassist Malachi Favors Maghostut, and the estimable Jack deJohnette (star drummer for Miles, Keith Jarrett and pretty much everyone else).
The Golden Quartet line up was a dream Smith had nurtured for some 30 years till their formation in 2000.

666man.Net - Short Story The Silver Refiner
As she watched the silver smith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up.  He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.
That week this woman called up a silver smith and made an appointment to watch him at work.  She didn’t mention anything about the reason for her interest in silver beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver.
The woman was silent for a moment.  Then she asked the silver smith, how do you know when the silver is fully refined?

 L. Ray Smith - Tithing is Unscriptural Under the New Covenant
God has a word to the "shepherds of the sheep," and it is the very same message that He had for the Levites in the book of Malachi.
The word translated here "peddling" in the Concordant New Testament comes from the word "kapeleuo" which the spirit of God inspired to be used in the original Greek text of this verse of Scripture.
And Christendom teaches that this Scripture is the first proof from the Word of God that Christians are to tithe ten percent of their salaries to the church.

Zephaniah's forceful oracles are proof enough that the brilliant gains established by eighth-century prophecy had survived without major loss the long period of prophetic quiescence." (Introduction to the Old Testament, pp.

 L. Ray Smith - Tithing is Unscriptural Under the New Covenant
As Christians are not under the Law of Moses in this New Testament dispensation, accordingly, the end-time fulfillment of Malachi does not pertain to the Law of Moses, which is the oldness of the letter rather the newness of the spirit.
Obedience to the Law of Moses, the Sacrifices and the many Ordinances was to bring physical prosperity, safety from enemies, healthy children, and a long life in the land, followed by DEATH.
Christians are not under the Law of Moses, nor a twisted, modified version of it.

 King James Translators
In every roster of translators, there is always listed for the first Oxford company, which translated Isaiah through Malachi, the same seven men: John Harding, John Rainolds, Thomas Holland, Richard Kilby, Miles Smith, Richard Brett, and Richard Fairclough.
Although other translators besides Edes had died before the Bible was published in 1611 (Edward Lively in 1605, Ralph Hutchinson and William Dakins in 1606, John Rainolds in 1607, Thomas Ravis and John Aglionhy in 1609), it appears that once the work of translation was in progress, translators who died were not replaced.
But in the lists of translators that served on the Oxford companies, and especially the second one, which translated the Gospels, Acts, and Revelation, there are some lingering discrepancies which will probably never be completely solved.
