In the county, the population is spread out with 27.60% under the age of 18, 10.60% from 18 to 24, 27.20% from 25 to 44, 21.00% from 45 to 64, and 13.70% who are 65 years of age or older.

A man of sterling worth and a well-known citizen of Malheur, was born in Minnesota in 1860, and with his parents moved to this state in 1864, settling near Walla Walla, Wash.
In November 1892, he was appointed county treasurer to fill out an unexpired term, and has gained the confidence of his fellow citizens to such an extent as to cause his election in 1894 and again in 1896.
