In a Thursday morning memo e-mailed to Jef Farland, the department director, City Administrator Craig Malin asked that three more jobs be axed from leisure facilities and services in addition to the equivalent of 3.89 previously recommended.
Farland was among 10 city department directors who got marching orders from Malin several hours after five aldermen, with Mayor Charlie Brooke’s tie-breaking vote, approved a fiscal year 2005 capital improvement and operating budget of $140.8 million that calls for elimination of up to the equivalent of 46 full-time jobs.
In e-mailed memos to the department heads, Malin explained what new job-cutting targets they would be required to meet and suggested some positions that could be eliminated.
