	KARACHI: Generators to be installed at Malir pumping stations -DAWN - Local; October 15, 2006
		KARACHI, Oct 14: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal on Saturday directed the KWSB authorities to install generators at all pumping stations in Malir to continue water pumping in case of power breakdown or failure.
		Malir Town Nazim Ansar Ahmed Sheikh and Naib Town Nazim Sharafat Ali were also present.
		It was told that 1,200mgd water was being provided to Malir Town in the past which had been raised up to 17 million gallon water daily.

		Malir Town is a small densely populated town in the eastern part of Karachi, with Quaid-e-Azam International Airport and the Malir Cantonment to the west and north, the Malir River and Shah Faisal Town to the south and Gadap Town to the east across the Thado Nallo stream.
		The population of Malir Town was estimated to be about 400,000 at the 1998 census, of which 99% are Muslim.

		The board official said that he was informed by a couple of centre superintendents from Malir and Gadap that agitated group of people entered their premises and snatched answer scripts and question papers, which were already handed over to candidates in examination rooms.
		To a question, he said that candidates who could not appear in English paper due to disturbances at centres could appear again, along with fresh students of Class IX, in the said papers scheduled to be held later.

		The police said that as Dr Athar Husain Rizvi, aged 50, arrived at his Swaleh Clinic in F-South in Khokhrapar on his motorcycle, two unidentified men, who were waiting for him, opened fire on him and escaped on their motorcycle.
