According to oral history of the indigenous people of Bukidnon, there were four main tribes in Central Mindanao: the Maranao who dwell in Lanao del Sur, and the Maguindanao, Manobo and Talaandig who respectively inhabit the eastern, southern, and north-central portions of the original province of Cotabato.
Bukidnon became a regular province on March 10, 1917 by virtue of the creation of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu under Act 2711.
The fifth degree Bukidnons are largely recent immigrants from their other parts of the Philippine archipelago and have made Bukidnon as their permanent home.

Bukidnon is a large province (8,294 square km) containing several plateaus that are separated by deep canyons and three major river valleys --the Pulangi, Tagoloan, and Cagayan.
Bukidnon is the only province in Mindanao that does not have a coast line, it being in the north central part of the island.
For purposes of modern classification, lowlanders of the plateau are Bukidnons and higlanders are Manobos.

It was the first time in the history of Kaamulan festival of Bukidnon that a single town won the grand slam victory.
Kaamulan festival is the gathering of the seven tribes of Bukidnon.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - An American missionary serving as parish priest of Malitbog in Bukidnon reportedly threatened to excommunicate women who would not remove their intrauterine devices (IUDs).
She said a Dr. Marites Echavez from the Served Life Ministry in Malitbog performed the initial removal of the devices inside the town's health center.
The irony is that most of them were allegedly in a stage considered risky for conceiving.

A HIGHLY successful Bangladeshi-inspired poverty alleviation program for poor women in Bukidnon is being threatened by the intense political rivalry between the Zubiri and Acosta families in the province.
