 | | AUSTIN, Texas (November 1, 2004) — The public is invited to attend the 30th anniversary celebration of the Mexican American Library Program (MALP) on Thursday, November 11, 2004, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., throughout the first floor of the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. |
 | | The reception will acknowledge former students, faculty and librarians instrumental in the formation and development of MALP, a unit of the Benson Collection established by the University of Texas Libraries in 1974. |
 | | Through MALP, the Benson Collection is now the permanent home of the records of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and the records of prominent scholars Américo Paredes (anthropologist and folklorist), Carlos E. Castañeda (historian and librarian), Julián Samora (sociologist) and George I. Sánchez (educator). |
