I didn't have to see a doctor about my busted gut afterwards, but I was entertained, and sometimes that's enough to satisfy me on a Friday afternoon.
This is a fun, cutesy, fluffy movie that bases most of its jokes on the contrast of Tommy Lee Jones' no-nonsense, non-joking persona with the bubbly personalities of five college cheerleaders who don't appreciate his rules.
Man of the House isn't exactly a movie to get excited about, but it provides enough laughs to keep its head above water.

I'm guessing that's the question that people intrigued by Man of the House were asking, since that's the only appeal of this new DVD release at first glance.
Jones plays the hard-nosed officer of the law with ease, since he's had plenty of prepping from previous roles (most notably his fantastic turn in the Fugitive), but he's not any more convincing as a Dirty Harry character as Clint Eastwood was.
Vanessa Fertilo is about the only tolerable cheerleader on the squad, portraying a solemn, caring southern beauty that shows a spark of intelligence beyond her make-up.
