Man o'War's second crop produced one of his greatest runners, the glorious golden chestnut Crusader (1923 out of Star Fancy by *Star Shoot) won the Belmont Stakes, Jockey Club Gold Cup, and Suburban Handicap at 3 and was considered one of the best of his era.
Man o'War's inbred son War Relic appeared in 1941, and beat the 3-year-old champion Whirlaway in the Narragansett Special, and older horses in the Massachusetts Handicap that season.
Man o'War was a vibrant red chestnut with a rounded star and faint stripe on his face, which was slightly roman in profile.
