The soundtrack only has a couple of good songs on it (man on the moon and the great beyond)and the rest are total rubbish.
Besides the original "Man On The Moon", the soundtrack album features an orchestral version of the song and five instrumental backdrops specially composed by REM.
The instrumentals 'Miracle' and 'Man on the moon' are dreamy and haunting, and the background dialogue is amusing.

Man on the Moon (song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The song gave its name to a 1999 film (Man on the Moon), and was used in the film's soundtrack along with another R.E.M. song, the bespoke "The Great Beyond", which is about what Kaufman tried to achieve in his lifetime.
"Man on the Moon" is a song by the band R.E.M. from their 1992 album Automatic for the People.
The song was released as a single in 1993.

Two of the songs on the album: "The Great Beyond" and "Man on the Moon"; are songs performed by R.E.M. Not only that, but the film's score-much of which is included here-was written by the band as well.
And for those of you who aren't R.E.M., Andy Kaufman, or MAN ON THE MOON fans; this is still an enjoyable album to listen to: "The Great Beyond" and "Man on the Moon" are great songs as is the theme from Taxi and the "Mighty Mouse Theme".
This soundtrack composed of mainly R.E.M. songs stays true to the essence that was Andy Kaufman.

SoundtrackNet : Man On The Moon Soundtrack
The instrumental version of "Man On The Moon", on the other hand, does travel dynamically and features a nice string arrangement (with a couple of horns thrown in for padding).
Well, "Man On The Moon" is a good song - and a big hit for R.E.M. "The Great Beyond" is decent, with very strong stream of consciousness imagery.
(There are one or two decent moments on the disc.) The 'score' was penned by R.E.M. (They also have two songs on here - "The Great Beyond" and "Man On The Moon".) For my money, two of the score numbers, "Miracle" and the instrumental treatment of "Man On The Moon", hold promise.

 Man on the Moon soundtrack
R.E.M.'s 1992 album Automatic For The People featured a song called "Man on the Moon," a fittingly cryptic tribute to Kaufman.
It was a bravura performance, and it set the tone for Kaufman's too-short career, which ended with his death in 1984.
He did his "Foreign Man" character (who later became Latka on Taxi), a strange-sounding fellow who did awful impersonations of celebrities--awful, that is, until he metamorphosed into Elvis Presley.

 Polanski's Bitter Moon
Bitter Moon employs a similar narrative method wherein one man is taken hostage by another man's tale of misery.
The soundtrack by Vangelis is excellent, is pure onomatopoeia with the ocean, the moon, the bitter spirit that pervades this story of poisoned love.
Polanski's first feature Knife In The Water (1962) was about sex games on a boat, so you could say he's returned to his roots with Bitter Moon and the elegant nihilism that pervades its closed system reality.

The origins of this rumor are obscure, but a few websites had appeared and discussion groups had been exchanging information about the connection between Dark Side of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz a number of years before the mainstream press reported the story in 1997.
Several years ago a rumor began to circulate about a strange connection between Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon (1973) and the MGM classic film The Wizard of Oz (1939).

Also on here are the standards like "Losing My Religion," "Man on the Moon," and "Everybody Hurts." What's really cool are the inclusion of great songs like "The Great Beyond" from the Man on the Moon soundtrack, and "All the Right Friends" from Vanilla Sky.
But I feel like it's almost my duty to let people know that R.E.M, one of the greatest and somewhat forgotten bands in the history of music, have a new best-of celebrating their last fifteen years.

With that said, the music featured in Aria of Sorrow is almost as good as the soundtrack found in Circle of the Moon, the first GBA Castlevania game, yet it could have been better.
Aria of Sorrow follows the adventure of a young man named Soma Cruz in the year 2035, on the eve of a solar eclipse.
He perished in 1999, but on this day in 2035 he will be reborn in the form of a man who can absorb the souls of living things, and control the monsters around him.

In July 1969, the eyes of the world were on the Apollo 11 moon landing--but the world would have watched blank television screens if not for the hard work of a group of Australians manning the Parkes Radio Telescope, one of the largest dishes in the world.
"If you're old enough to remember the first moon landing, The Dish is guaranteed to leave you with a lump in your throat."
"The cast is wonderful, the soundtrack features a well-chosen array of bouncy period pop tunes, and Graeme Wood's cinematography makes the most of the stately beauty of the dish itself."

 TrouserPress.com :: Pogues
The Pogues never invoked the memory of Mott the Hoople (with a nod to the Clash) the way this lot does on "Victoria," but on traditional ballads like "Roddy McCorley," "Nancy Whiskey" and "The Rising of the Moon," the Popes reclaim enough of the older band's sound for the transition to hardly matter.
Along with Costello and Joe Strummer, the Pogues fell in with director Alex Cox, contributing a pair of tracks to Sid and Nancy, appearing in the motley Straight to Hell and providing the bulk of its soundtrack.
As the Anglo-Irish octet's singer, colorful public persona and primary songwriter, Shane MacGowan was always the man to see about the Pogues, from the band's early days as punk's idea of an Irish folk group through its adventurous maturity as lusty world music dilettantes.

 ear fuzz: Muppets and Masterpieces
Next is one of the moody downtempo tunes Tropical River which to me sounds like Umiliani's take on Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon very much on the exotic tip, nice vibes and crashing cymbals and look out for the nice electronic noodlings that come in around 2.50, yeah man!
Piero Umiliani was one of Italy's most predominant soundtrack composers through the sixties and seventies, unlike fellow composer Morricone he had never really got international commercial recognition, as he only really penned music for non English films.
The song 'Ma-Na Ma-Na' was initially written as part of a dodgey 70's porno soundtrack to the film 'Sweden, Heaven & Hell' the title says it all eh?.

 The Who
The Who were natural showmen: Singer Roger Daltrey was a dynamic front man, twirling his microphone on the end of its cord while Townshend played chords on his guitar with great windmill -like sweeps of his arms, and the maniacal Moon bashed and crashed like no drummer ever before him.
The Who's participation was limited to the soundtrack, which includes songs from the Rock opera, new songs written for the soundtrack by Pete Townshend, and various Motown hits performed by the original artists.
Who's Next was followed by the Who's final rock opera, Quadrophenia (which was based on the story of the Mods and Rockers, particularly riots between the two factions at Brighton).

Reviews of Man on the Moon soundtrack Jim Carrey, Aimee Mann Soundtrack to Magnolia, and Fantasia 2000 Disney Studios
Yet as a memento of the film, the soundtrack is an odd lot, as the last song ("One More Song for You"), as performed by Andy Kaufman, does not appear until deep into the ending credits, long after most of the audience has left the theater.
The film ranks as a big disappointment for Jim Carrey fans.
Andy Kaufman remains an enigmatic performer (listen to the story that Laurie Anderson tells about his escapades at a New York amusement park for a glimpse of his warped version of "theater of the living").
