  Review: Man on the Moon
Man on the Moon, with its title taken from the R.E.M. song, is director Milos Forman's unabashedly favorable look at Kaufman's public years, and may represent the final chapter in the comedian's restoration to a platform of affection and respect.
The success of Man on the Moon rests squarely on the shoulders of Jim Carrey, who, with this performance, completes the transition from off-the-wall comedian to serious actor that he began in The Truman Show.
Man on the Moon does not whitewash its lead character, but he is presented as a likable, albeit strange, protagonist.

A blue moon — the nickname for the second full moon in the same month — rises Saturday night, an astronomical oddity with a name based on a botched bit of modern folklore.
Playing on the notion that the moon was made of green cheese, poets joked that a never-seen "blue" moon was made of well-aged blue cheese.
The most famous occurrence of blue-tinted moons came in 1883, when dust from the volcano Krakatoa in Indonesia colored the atmosphere for two years.

SCREEN IT! ARTISTIC REVIEW: MAN ON THE MOON
That's especially true now upon the release of "Man on the Moon," an episodic and partially satisfying look at the comedian and his many antics.
For those who may now be groaning or had a similar reaction upon first hearing that the man who once talked out of his butt and uttered phrases like "Smooookeeeeeen" would tackle this character, let me state that Carrey is absolutely fabulous in the role.
A certifiable triumph of physical and behavioral imitation across many characters and the man himself, Carrey's performance is so good and dead-on that anyone remotely familiar with the late comic may often forget it's not Kaufman himself.

These are the questions posed by "Man on the Moon" (named after the R.E.M. song), an Andy Kaufman biopic that brings together director Milos Forman ("The People vs. Larry Flynt") and comedian Jim Carrey ("The Truman Show").
In its two hour running time, "Man on the Moon" delves into the mystery of the Andy Kaufman, and tries to make sense of his life and why he did the crazy things that earned him both applause and notoriety.
Of course, much of the success for "Man on the Moon" can be attributed to Carrey, who seems to have put aside the rubber-faced antics of his early days and become a true dramatic actor.

Call Down the Moon - Man - Song Listings
Man's first American release in 20 years, Call Down the Moon arrived in 1995, the successor to 1992's brilliant Twang Dynasty, and a worthy one at that.
Almost half the album tracks find the band approaching the nine- or ten-minute barrier that, in the past, was always the hallmark of Man at their most magical, while the song titles positively ooze the old spirit as well -- "Burn My Working Clothes," "The Girl Is Trouble," "Call Down the Moon" itself.
Poor distribution and a shockingly bad cover do mar Call Down the Moon somewhat -- considering it was a brand new album by a much beloved band, the package screams "cheap cash-in" so loudly that even loyal fans initially gave it a wide berth.

Kaufman is the man who became somewhat of an overnight sensation with his appearance on the popular TV show "Saturday Night Live" with his "Mighty Mouse" routine.
It was incredibly stupid, him silently standing there listening to a record of the song that introduced a animated TV series and then mimicking the single line: "Here I come to save the day." It was so stupid that people actually liked it.
