Mandu (dumpling) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mandu, manty, or mantı (Turkish) refers to dumplings in Korean, Turkish, Persian, and Pashtoon cuisines.
In Korean cuisine, mandu can be taken to mean one of two things: first, the type of filled dumplings similar to the Turkish mantı, the Chinese jiaozi, or the Japanese gyoza; or second, a type of steamed bun similar to the Chinese mantou.
It is likely that the name originated in a wheat-growing Central Asian culture in the medieval period, which had extensive trade and cultural interactions with China and nomads of the Eurasian steppe.
