Trenz was no longer involved with the series, as he always preferred to develop for 8-bit systems.
Trenz made quite a lot of adjustments and came up with one of the most balanced episodes in the saga.

Manfred Trenz, famed programmer of such classics as Katakis and Turrican, announced that he would never ever write a single line of code again for good old C64.
But Enforcer is not only the very last C64 game by Manfred, it's also a trip through the history of his carreer, for a lot of background graphics and foes have been recycled from previous games.
Trenz obviously tried to compensate this by throwing in a lot of shield symbols, but that doesn't make it any better.

Manfred Trenz new developer for GBA, NDS, C64 (!) - Beyond3D Forum   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
If you are old enough to remember, Trenz was at least in the past part of Factor 5, and helped develop a string of technically advanced (and for the most part, fun) games on C64 and Amiga computers in the late 80s/early 90s.
Not sure if he moved with the rest of Factor 5 to the US and if he has now quit there, or what happened since, because he seems to be back in good ol' Germany again by looking at the web address of the site.
He wasn't, but Katakis 2 will be a cooperation between the creators of Turrican 3/C64 and "The Master" (not that Trenz has really lived up to that epithet sinze Super Turrican for Famicom, or so).

 Review - Enforcer
in Germany, all of Manfreds game's were released in the UK (I think?), so in a way this feels like a lost game to the commercial C64 community.
Simply this game was intended as a final hurrah on the C64 by Manfred, as he worked on the back of various console projects.
It made Manfred a little bit of money on a classic formula which was so successful in his previous shooters, and from the levels of Turrican 2.
