  Manhunt is a Slaughterhouse
Manhunt just might be the most violent video game of all time and has stirred up considerable fuss recently.
The intro to Manhunt sets up the nasty concept: The player is to assume the persona of one James Earl Cash, a bald, bulky and grim-looking convict, shown here in the scant seconds before his death by electrocution for crimes unknown.
At no point in the game is it made clear whether Cash is a good guy or bad guy, but he is a killing machine on a manhunt.

His mother Giselle claimed her son's "inherently evil" murderer was "obsessed" with the game and called for it to be banned.
The game was banned by censorship officials in New Zealand six months ago and one campaigner had written to its producers warning the "murder simulator" could lead to copycat killings.

Manhunt is by far the epitome of what all governors and statesmen complain about when they discuss the violence in video games and other entertainment methods.
The AI in the game can be quite erratic at points, leaving you battling hordes of impossible enemies constantly slinging lead at you as you cower behind a car or a box, or you could take out an entire platoon of enemies by just making noise and slitting their throats.
In short, manhunt is a game, moderate in visuals, and stunning in gore.

Manhunt is seriously intense, and anyone with a stomach for the game's concept ought to find it fiendishly entertaining.
The premise of Manhunt is actually highly reminiscent of the original Hitman: Codename 47, and, indeed, the game's combination of stealthy surprise attacks and full-bore shooting action is also similar to that game (and its superior sequel).
The game's control scheme does have a few issues you'll learn to get over (mostly with the camera controls, since there's no simple way to snap the camera back to the default behind-the-back-perspective), but the core mechanics are great.

Rockstar Games' "Manhunt" -- previously released for the Sony PlayStation 2 and now available for the Microsoft Xbox and Windows PC -- has a similar premise and grim foreshadowing of future entertainment.
Hundreds of video cameras are placed inside and out of buildings to record his every move.
While there are plenty of weapons to find and use in the game -- ranging from plastic bags and baseball bats to guns and shards of glass -- "Manhunt" encourages players to employ stealth instead of noisily running around the streets with brute force to find the next victim.

Manhunt has the phrase survival horror tacked on the side of the box, but that’s not really an accurate description because it’s a stealth game through and through.
It has some staples of survival horror game like a tense atmosphere and that whole survival mentality feeling, but the core gameplay mechanics are standard stealth affair.
In a few years, I imagine Manhunt will be the US Government’s poster boy against video game violence (it always takes them a few years to catch on) since it’s seemingly realistic in its brutality.
