Manly Council provided native plants which a small task force of volunteers replanted in conjunction with local residents.

Manly Hydraulics Laboratory, in its advice to Manly Council on the matter on 7 July 1999, stated that there has been an ocean coastal climate conducive to higher than average beach erosion over recent months.

Manly and Warringah Golf Clubs have discussed construction of a proposed new pipeline from Manly Dam along Manly Creek and across District Park, to supply water for irrigation of their courses.
Warringah Council has not accepted its consultantants recommendation that McLeod House be added to the heritage list.This might result in its demolition and replacement with a much more dense development.
Meetings were held and council are understood to be considering constructing an exit ramp at ratepayers expense.

Recent work by Manly Council indicates that most companies do not have adequate environmental management, have poor knowledge of best environmental practice and do not realise they are part of the Manly and Curl Curl lagoon catchments.
It is an initiative of Oz GREEN and Warringah Council.

Even though Governor Arthur Phillip had visited Manly (commenting that the local aborigines"..were quite manly") as early as May 15 1788, it wasn't until Lauchlan Macquarie took over in 1810 that the first land was granted to anybody in the area.
It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the east and areas such as Kuringai Chase National Park to the west, with Narrabeen Lakes and Pittwater in between.
It still remains today relatively underdeveloped compared to a lot of the Sydney area and it is this aspect, together with the beautiful beaches along its coast, that give it its character and charm.
