Manuel Eduardo Sarmiento Aponte (born February 2, 1956 in Cagua, Venezuela), best know as Manny Sarmiento, is a former right-handed relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Cincinnati Reds (1976-79), Seattle Mariners (1980; 1981 on the disabled list) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1982-83).
Sarmiento was happy to be back in the National League after an early 1981 trade which brought him to the Pirates.
Manny Sarmiento had a career record of 26-22, with 283 strikeouts, a 3.49 ERA, and 12 saves in 513 innings pitched.
