Your office advised him and the board of township trustees that certain opinions of the Attorneys General suggested that township funds could not be used to reimburse legal expenses incurred by a public officer in a removal proceeding.
It follows that a board of township trustees, acting pursuant to R.C. 309.09(B), is not bound by the determination made by the county prosecuting attorney with respect to representation of a township officer.

 Summit County History
Akron in 1846.—The large and flourishing town of Akron, the county-seat, is on the Portage summit of the Ohio canal, at the junction of the Pennsylvania canal, 36 miles from Cleveland and 110 northeast of Columbus.
Those in Summit county were greatly frightened, notwithstanding its having been foretold by some of their squaws, who were not believed and put to death for witchcraft.
On their arrival a meeting of the township was called, and after a thorough investigation it was the unanimous vote, with one exception, that the man alleged to have been murdered now stood alive before them.

 The Mantua-Shalersville Fire Department
Prior to 1901, a civilian Bucket Brigade was used to battle the fires that occurred in Mantua Village, which was known as "Mantua Station" prior to its incorporation in 1898.
Most noteworthy, the first 1,500 GPM pumper (Seagrave) in Portage County in March of 1978, and the counties first 1,750 GPM pumper (Mack), in February of 1988 and the first 2,000 GPM pumper (Pierce) in August of 2000.
In 1946, the Mantua-Shalersville Fire Association was formed when Mantua Village, Mantua Township, and Shalersville Township entered into a formal contract to share all the cost in operating the joint Fire Department.

 2 Portage men freed after wrongful convictions
Mantua natives Robert Gondor and Randy Resh have been in prison since 1990 for the strangulation death two summers earlier of Connie Nardi, a 31-year-old divorced mother of two from Randolph Township.
The 11th Ohio District Court of Appeals in Warren reversed Bannon and affirmed the convictions in January 2005.
But last month, the Ohio Supreme Court unanimously rejected the appeals court ruling, saying the three-judge panel had no legal right to second-guess the trial judge in the manner it did under the particular circumstances of the case.
