As we headed toward Manzanillo, our overnighting destination, we turned off the highway into Cuyutlan which was advertised along the highway as the "Home of the Green Wave" and host to both a Turtle Sanctuary and a Salt Museum showing the gathering and processing of salt in the area.
Cuyutlan is a quaint little town with treelined, cobbled streets, a number of small, inexpensive hotels along the strand, and a wide beach area strewn with beach chairs, umbrellas and restaurants.

We stayed at Motel Maria Cristina in Santiago, just north of Manzanillo, the last night of a 5 day trip to the highlands.
Visited the area south of downtown around the power plant and the lagoon inflows and outflows - pretty amazing engineering to circulate the water like they do.
Also got some good fotos of the central mercado and the new downtown portales with no construction going on.
