  Radio Maranon, Peru
It was established by the Vicar Arch bishopric of Jaen under the direction of Padre Jose Marina Guallart, for the principal purpose of cultural orientation, education and the promotion of Chris tianity to the peasants living in the isolated communities.
Radio Maranon is a religious broadcaster owned by the Roman Catholic Church, however, its principal objective is not only broadcasting the Bible.
It was on August 13, 1986, when the Ministry of Transports and Commutations authorize d Radio Maranon to broadcast on 4835kHz in the 60 meter band with an output of 1kW, under the callsign OCX2E.

Notable species include the Peruvian Pigeon, Maranon Spinetail, Maranon Slaty-Antshrike, Maranon Crescent-chest, Maranon Thrush, and Buff-bellied Tanager, none of which are found elsewhere in Ecuador.

Aramango is in an isolated and remote region, but it may be rarely visited by adventurous travelers on their way to Sarameriza, a tiny port on the upper Rio Maranon and the most westerly starting point of the river journey down the Rio Amazonas.
Transmitting from Aramango situated in the hot, humid and fertile Valley of Maranon, a shortwave station identifying itself as "Radio Ondas del Rio Maranon", made its first appearance in early May of 1997.
He was suspicious of a strange foreigner, but he informed me that the station owner generally did not live in the village of Aramango, and ran a farm in a remote community called "Altos", about a few hours on foot.

 RIGZONE - Petrolifera Awarded License on Maranon Block 106 in Peru
Petrolifera Petroleum Limited reports that Supreme Decree No. 021-2005-EM approving the award of a License to Petrolifera over Block 106 in the Maranon Basin of northern Peru was issued and published in El Peruano on June 30, 2005.
Petrolifera has also been advised that the Supreme Decree for the License to be awarded to the company covering Block 107 in the Ucayali Basin, Peru is now scheduled for issuance on July 12, 2005 and the formal license signing will follow later in the month.
Block 106 is comprised of approximately two million acres and surrounds the Corrientes Field, the largest in the Maranon Basin, onshore northern Peru.
