Derick Alan Wharton was born Sept. 19, 1995, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, and died Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City from injuries suffered in a school bus accident in Marble Rock.

Stangler was employed at Winnebago Industries, Forest City, in the Stitchcraft Dept. For 20 years, she was a cook at the Knights of Columbus Council #1006 Hall in Mason City, retiring in 1997.
She was a resident of the Story City area all of her life and was a 1998 graduate of Roland-Story High School.
Helen is survived by two brothers, Arthur L. Gratias, and his wife, Alice, of Mason City and Paul Gratias and his wife, LaVera, of Osage; one sister, Ethel Taylor, and her husband, Harold, of Mason City; 14 nieces and nephews.

Miller, D-Whitefield, and Garrison, D-Muskogee, said a $108,400 community development block grant from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce will be coupled with a $108,400 Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant from the Eastern Oklahoma Economic Development District to complete the project.
The Legislature created the REAP in 1996 to help underwrite public improvements in communities of 7,000 population or less, particularly areas with 1,500 or fewer residents, Miller said.

The building was built by Martin Rhinehart during the 1920s and was his pride and joy.
He used nothing but the finest materials such as solid walnut woodwork, imported Italian marble and terrazzo, beautiful handpainted plastered lobby ceilings, etc. Though he lost it during the Depression, he kept his office there well into the 1950s.
At one time there used to be a bronze placard on the NW corner of the building stating that that was the location of OKC's first library.
