  Marbled Duck or Marbled Teal
The Marbled Duck, or Marbled Teal (Marmaronetta angustirostris), is a medium-sized dabbling duck.
This duck formerly bred in large numbers in the Mediterranean region, but is now restricted to a few sites in southern Spain and northwest Africa.
The Marbled Duck is approximately 39-42 cm long.

The drake Marbled Duck remained at Frampton-on-Severn, Gloucestershire all week and the Pallas’s Warbler at Wouldham, Kent continued to hold territory.
However, a drake Marbled Duck at Frampton-on-Severn, Gloucestershire did linger from 9th and proved to be a popular attraction despite the close proximity of Slimbridge which has accounted for all of it’s birds.

These are gregarious ducks, mainly found on fresh water or on estuaries, though the Greater Scaup becomes marine during the northern winter.
Diving ducks do not walk as well on land as the dabbling ducks; their legs tend to be placed further back on their bodies help propel them when underwater.

The Marbled Murrelet nests on the mainland in almost total obscurity, although people who fish and boat along the British Columbia coast during spring and summer (when the birds are nesting) often see Marbled Murrelets out on the water.
Marbled Murrelets occur in Asia around the Sea of Okhotsk, in Alaska, and along the Pacific coast of North America, as far south as northern California.
No one is sure exactly where most Marbled Murrelets nest; however, thousands of birds spend the summer on the coast, many adults have been seen carrying food inland at this time, and 14 nestlings have been found in forests and on land far from the sea.

Marbled Teal formerly bred in the Western Desert and in the Nile valley.
The Marbled Teal was formerly a very abundant breeder in the marismas: and several thousand breeding pairs were thought to be present at the turn of the century, and flocks of over 1,000 were still common in the 1920s (Valverde 1964).
Marbled Teal are readily confused with female and juvenile Red-crested Pochard under normal hunting conditions, owing to their similar body colour and dark eye patch.

A study of the ecology of the Marbled Teal and Ferruginous Duck was made in the latter part of their breeding season at the Göksu Delta from 10 July to 6 August 1995.
Marbled Teal made much more use of an inner zone of Akgöl with monospecific stands of S. litoralis, whilst Ferruginous Duck were intermediate.
Marbled Teal broods were highly concentrated in a drainage canal where it entered the lake, possibly because the surrounding, shallow marsh provided suitable nocturnal feeding habitat.

 Marmaronetta angustirostris
This is one of the few ducks in which the male is just as dull in plumage as the female.
All Marbled Ducks look basically grey-brown with a long, slim dark grey bill rather like a female Pintail but with a scatter of large pale spots over most of the body and a characteristic dark eye patch.
In flight, the plain grey-brown colours of a Marbled Duck make it look even more like a female Pintail, especially since they both show pale trailing edges to the secondaries but the long slender shape of the Pintail should be conclusive enough, even if you can't tell whether it has a dark eye patch.

On 2/22 Jim Flynn and Earl Horn found 3 MOTTLED DUCKS at the Altamaha Waterfowl Management Area in McIntosh Co. They were in the back corner of the largest impoundment.
The AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS seen earlier in the week at Chicopee Woods Lake in Hall Co. are still present.
