While Marc Broussard was born on the bayou a mere 22 years ago, at first listen, you might feel the soul of his Louisiana musical brethren from many years prior in his music.
Marc’s father, Ted Broussard, is a Louisiana Hall of Fame guitarist, so he did have a bit of a head start, but from the sounds of this CD, I can’t see why the tradition can’t continue.
Broussard has been on the road over the last year, and continues touring into this Fall, honing his craft in the company of musical notoriety such as The Dave Matthews Band, Willie Nelson, moe., Tori Amos and a wild variety of other such talent.

As a songwriter, Broussard isn't anywhere near such a level; some of his songs bear the lyrical clichés one would expect from a young singer-songwriter.
There are other spots where Broussard's music tilts a little too close to soft rock, spots where the Dave Matthews influence is beyond overt, but tunes like the fiery set opener "Home" and the appropriately slinky blues "Lonely Night in Georgia" are showstoppers.
Broussard's Cajun roots only make fleeting appearances throughout Carencro, a bit more will distance his sound from the variety of influences that he so openly relies on.

Bio: The son of Boogie Kings guitarist (and Louisiana Hall of Fame member) Ted Broussard, Marc Broussard was seemingly destined for a life as a music man. His upbringing in Lafayette, LA instilled in him an affinity for R&B alongside the Cajun trappings of southern Louisiana.
Drawing vocal and stylistic influence from Otis Redding and Brian McKnight while bearing the preternaturally gruff voice of a John Hiatt or a Dr. John, Broussard was barely 20 at the time of his first album's release.
A full-length second release, Carencro, named after Broussard's hometown, came out on Island Records in 2004.
