	March 1st Movement Summary
		The March First Movement, or the Samil Movement, was one of the earliest displays of Korean nationalism during the Japanese rule.
		When this news reached the underground movement in Korea composed of 33 Cheondogyo, Buddhist and Christian leaders including Son Byong-Hi that had been secretly forming throughout that year, it was decided that the time to act was nearing.
		At 2pm on the 1st of March, the 33 patriots who formed the core of the Samil movement convened at Taehwagwan restaurant, and read the Declaration of Independence that had been drawn up by Korean nationalist historian and writer Choe Namson.

		The March 1st Movement was one of the earliest displays of Korean nationalism during the Japanese Colonial Period.
		When this news reached the underground movement in Korea that had been secretly forming throughout 1918, composed of 33 Chondo Kyo, Buddhist and Christian leaders including Son Byong-Hi, it was decided that the time to act was nearing.
		At 2pm on the 1st of March, the 33 patriots who formed the core of the Samil movement assembled at Pagoda Park in downtown Seoul to read the Declaration of Independence that they had drawn up, and the crowds that had assembled in the park to hear it formed into a procession.

		Along with others from the movement, she participated in peaceful rallies in Seoul on March 1 and 5, 1919, and then helped to organize a rally in her hometown a few weeks later.
		On March 31, the night before the rally, she lit a beacon fire on top of Mount Maebong, to gather people from all around the region to join in the rally.
		While in prison, she led a demonstration of prisoners on the first anniversary of the March 1st Movement.

	The Samil (March First) Independence Movement
		March 1st (3.1 - sam-il in Korean) is a national day of remembrance of those patriots who stood up against the armed savages from Japan on March 1, 1919.
		Samil Anti-Japanese March was led by young students and Christians in Korea on March 1, 1919.
		The 33 organizers of the movement were mostly Christian idealists and had no experience in mass movement and so the March failed disastrously.

		Today’s march was attended by over 500 people, including many Palestinians from Bil’in and Israelis that were injured in the morning action, and International activists.
		The crowd marched from village to lands destroyed by wall construction, alongside the settlement of Maccabim.

		1st Asquith Scout Group has set in its hall at Lords Ave, Asquith an amateur radio facility to connect into the Scout Sunrise radio network associated with the Centenary of Scouting celebrations next Wednesday the 1st August 2007.
