Similarly, a VA study of 29 Gulf War veterans believed to have been exposed to the highest levels of depleted uranium has found, to date, no evidence of adverse effects on the kidney, but it has found that most DU-exposed veterans with embedded fragments continue to excrete elevated levels of urinary uranium.
