Marcin Kromer, (German Martin Kromer or Cromer) (1512-1589) was a 16th century bishop of Warmia, cartographer, diplomat, and historian in Poland and later in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
Kromer was born in 1512 to a notable burgher family of Biecz in Lesser Poland.
Martin Kromer and Stanislaus Hosius (Stanisław Hosius) are the two bishops most instrumental in causing Prussia's Ermland (Warmia) diocese to remain Catholic during a time of major conversions to Protestantism.

 Biecz, Poland
Biecz is historically the place of the Marcin Kromer family, secretary to three kings and the Warnimski bishopric seat.
His well maintained house stands with its vaulted round shaped bell tower, sculptures in stone carved chambers which in 1512 Kromer had collected from around the world.
In the parish church may be found his portrait and plaque, dedicated in his memory by his descendants.

His house is maintained in good condition, and on display in the circular keep adjoining it is the vaulted chamber, adorned with ashlar sculptures, in which Kromer supposedly entered the world in 1512.
