Marcus Dods (April 11, 1834 - April 26, 1909) was a Scottish divine and biblical scholar.
He was born at Belford, Northumberland, the youngest son of Rev. Marcus Dods, minister of the Scottish church of that town.
He studied at Edinburgh Academy and Edinburgh University, graduating in 1854.

Dods was the son of the Marcus Dods (1786-1838) who was Presbyterian minister at Belford from 1810-38 and published a work 'On the Incarnation of the Eternal Word'.
Like him, Marcus Dods was born in Belford and educated at Edinburgh.
Besides his great services to biblical scholarship, Dods stands high among those who have sought to bring the results of their scholarship to the ordinary reader.

Dods was born in Edinburgh but educated in England at Rugby and at King's College, Cambridge, as a Choral Scholar.
He worked with Muir Matheson (1911-73) directing the music in films such as Hamlet (1948), starring Sir Laurence Olivier.
Dods became Principal Conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra and composed classical pieces in addition to film music.
