Marduk was founded in Norrköping, Sweden in 1990 by Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson.
Marduk began to tour throughout the rest of Europe in 1994 and in 1995 had their first gig across the Atlantic in Mexico City.
In 2004 Marduk released their ninth studio album Plague Angel which was a great hit all over Europe and later on in the U.S.A. To celebrate Marduk's 15-year anniversary a live album called Warchau is out soon with seventeen live tracks from a show in Poland 2005.

Marduk was formed by Morgan Håkansson in 1990 to create the most blasphemous music ever.
On the 27th of October 2000 Marduk played an ten year anniversary show in their hometown Norrköping and on the 31st of October they released their anniversary live album called "Infernal Eternal" which was recorded during the French part of the "World Panzer Battle" tour 1999.
Marduk was also offered to do some music for a horror movie on a big independent label.

The reason Marduk has chosen not perfom at any other occasion is because they want to stay home and work on their next album which is going to be recorded during late summer.
Marduk is sorting the stuff out with their management right now, and we'll update you as soon as the band give us the information.
Right now Marduk is preparing their new studio album which will be recorded during December 2000, scheduled to be released during march next spring and immediately followed by extensive touring throughout Europe and the USA and most likely other parts of the world.

MARDUK, the name is forever written in the book of Extreme Metal and with blood that is. MARDUK was founded by Morgan Håkansson, who in 1990 found the time right for starting a Metal band of the most extreme and blasphemous kind.
Although this band are considered to be a satanic band, they use historical persons, rather than the horned one himself, for inspiration.
MARDUK is still a band worth mentioning, but for me their best album is “Nightwing”, it could be your favourite as well, be sure to check it out.

Marduk chose to cancel some not so appealing touroffers and went to Norway in May 1994 for the bands first show abroad ever at a Black Metal festival held in Oslo with some of the topnames the genre had to offer at the time.
Marduk followed up the success in early 1995 with a headliner tour that burned across Europe, the scene were talking intensively about this crushing band and Marduk rose against the metal sky.
Marduk continued their Black Metal odyssey by entering the Abyss studios once again in December of 2000 for the recording of La Grande Danse Macabre, an apocalyptic bloodswirl that showed a different side of Marduks creative abilities as well as showcasing intense and brutal riffing at breakneck speed.

Keep in mind, one reason why Marduk is my favorite band is that to me, they have some of the best musicians in the genre.
Also in the band Legion(who is also incredible), when I heard his work there, I could only wonder how he would sound with Marduk.
Be prepared for some new things in it, but know that the band is not afraid to grow and expand, all the time sticking with their underlying roots.

The Swedish fl metal band Marduk will be doing their first show in Australia on the 22nd of August at the Destruction of Oz festival in Melbourne.
The band is recording their debut album right now at the Dug-out Studio, produced by Daniel Bergstrand (Darkane, In Flames, Meshuggah and others), which is supposed to be released in the middle of November through Nuclear Blast Records.
The Swedish fl metal band Marduk have set "Funeral Marches And Warsongs" as the title for their upcoming DVD, wich will be unleashed in the middle of November 2003.

I was aware of Marduk leader Hakansson's love for Germany ever since he expressed his pride in his Nazi grandfather in a German fanzine.
Initially destined to be called The Black Years, the 12-song live recording showcases the entire Marduk career and as such is a useful representation of the band.
Marduk, by now, is a well-oiled death machine and the standard-bearer for Swedish supremacy.

Although usually known for their hyperspeed music, well shown on 1999's "Panzer Division Marduk", the band has chosen this time around to mix up the tempo a little bit between songs.
Just when I thought Marduk would never top the awesome "Heaven Shall Burn...." album, they release what is for me, one of the top releases of the year so far, and my new favorite Marduk album.
For fans of Marduk, this is a must have and comes highly recommended.

He was in the band for over eight and a half years and B War was in the band for twelve, and they have family and kids and just couldn't be 100% loyal to the band and maintain the level of focus and dedication that the band requires.
A lot of fl metal bands don't like to tour with bands like that, but it doesn't bother us, because at the end of the day we are still doing what we do and we are a fist in the face that would love to play for different audiences.
People are always referring to whatever band as being "fl metal", and when you read an advertisement and you see the words "fl metal" and then you see someone sitting with an umbrella and a painted tear on their face, looking depressed -- that's not fl metal for me. I don't care, really.

Not so many bands gain quality from release to release and Marduk, apart from their previous good works, have reached to most mature form of music, a step that open the gates to the history of the genre.
The are two-three songs that are very different from the band’s history, too much heavy and slow, and a bit boring, but the other are very varied compared to the past, it’s possible to find slow and fast parts, like fast and slow songs.
I don’t know if I’m giving that vote to the band history or the quality of that release but surely they’re losing something of the past energy, and a turn of tendency is necessary.

The rest of the bands were pretty fucked, Marduk also were not really motivated to do anything.
Metal bands that don't play live suck, because they aren't competent, they can't play their instruments and that's why they don't play live.
I mean, MARDUK is not a band they would invite to the local church to party.

Whatever happens, the band gets squeezed in the middle because everybody is just looking at the band and not at the organization behind the band.
The 26.000 US Dollars that MARDUK mentioned is simply the money requested from the side of the booking agent in the USA who wanted us to cover all quotations at each club who set up a show (25 shows were booked for the first appearance of MARDUK in the USA).
Morgan Hakansson suddenly became sick 6 hours before the band was supposed to take the plane and in the name of the band he decided to cancel the tour without providing a doctor statement about his illness.

Some longtime key members of the band, vocalist Legion and Bassist B. War, both left the band in the last year and this alteration in the lineup left a lot of Marduk fans a little edgy while they waited in anticipation for the newest version of Marduk to release their newest album "Plague Angel".
It's almost an entirely new band, but you really can't tell as the music still retains all of the signature little hooks and harmonics that were prevalent on all of their older albums.
I got into this band when their very first album came out well over ten years ago and have watched them grow and become one of the most respected fl metal bands in the world.

Most of the songs feature their typical highspeed Black Metal, performed by excellent musicians, especially the new drummer seems to have brought fresh wind and new inspiration into the band.
I know that many people await a "Panzerdivision 2"-album, but Marduk go the right way in trying to explore new musical terrain instead of repeating themselves to please the expectation of some of their fans I think.
It would be much easier to clone "Panzer Division Marduk", knowing that they'll sell their copies.

The rhythms of riffs are right where one would expect a pretty mindless death metal band to put them, and the chord progressions are of the broad obviously-power-chord type that reflects no real musical development.
Their patterns are simple and often deliberately redundant, but even from this Marduk wrench appropriations of beauty in their simple variations and obvious, leading structures.
What lead guitar augment the rhythm are few, as most of this music is straight-ahead blasting material, although later songs follow a trudge beat and rough harmonic abstract progressions in order to ensure boring filler material to emphasize the pounding, flaring, screeching fl metal compositions of the early parts of the album.

Unfortunately, as a side effect of the heinous terrorist attacks launched on America on September 11th Marduk found themselves stonewalled by US border control and had to cancel the second leg of US touring for the “La Grande…” album which was immediately re-routed by the booking agency though.
Shortly after the latter Marduk packed their arsenal and hit the road to support Danzig on the European leg of the “I luciferi” tour and as a co-headliner at the annual X-mass festival hitting several parts of Europe.

 Marduk - Fast Melodic Black Metal
Sort of derivative and uninspiring, Marduk have moved from poor fl metal to Entombed-style death metal to fast but banal fl metal after one reasonably qualifying album, "Opus Nocturne." This band consistently creates interesting "sounding" albums, with cool melodic tuning and distortion, cool bass sounds and tape-sped drums.
While this recording delivers all of the speed and precision desired in a metal band - strangely, death metal characteristics - it also expresses an aura of darkness in the ripping speed of the iteration of chords in the style of classic fl metal mercurial temperment.
For this reason, there is no evil or mystical aura to the band or their work of mostly disjointed concept, and many find their music more predictable than the sometimes more random or more conceived older fl metal bands.
