Ord recently parted ways with her management at Nettwerk and is out shopping her new voice, new songs, and new attitude with the help of The Guess Who/BTO heavyweight, Randy Bachman.
Ord says her sound "has definitely changed into something edgier," and although she feels extremely blessed to have been guided by such a renowned writing companion, she isn’t ready to share all her writing credits just yet.
In January, Ord will begin the new year by heading into the studio fulltime, with Bachman at her side to help produce her latest effort, which she plans to shop to labels, but she is also prepared to release independently if need be.

No Doubt that "Life is a Train", the first track from Maren Ord's new EP, Not Today, is as wonderfully infectious and surging in rhythmic bliss as anything I've heard recently.
This time, there is a catchy hook of Maren yodeling (yodeling must be all the rage now, eh?) and though it is repetetive and also includes a chorus of background singers, it's not grating like the "Memories" chorus becomes.
I know Maren is a great singer and songwriter, so I would like to hear her more naturally, sonically speaking, without merely being hit over the head with her music.

Maren's song 'Harsh Words' is so truthful and her song 'Swallow', written for her boyfriend who was moving away is one of the best songs I've ever heard.
Maren's voice is fantastic, actually that's an understatement, and she has a was of reaching right into your soul with her voice and lyrics.
Maren's voice has a lot of range, although her voice can get annoying at times (her voice sounds like Michelle Branch sometimes.) Overall, though, this is one impressive album and I can't want to hear more from this talented Canadian singer/song-writer!

I asked that question myself when I heard Sarah, a great new pop/rock song by 19yr old Maren Ord.
What makes this song work is the bouncy beat and energetic vocals by Ord, as the song's ability to catch your ear takes off right from the getgo.
It was my suspision that this song was about Sarah McLachlan, however those rumors have been overturned by Maren Ord, who says her song is not about the Halifax singer/songwritter.
