Margaret was remarkable in that she continued to win major titles, such as the U.S. in 1973, after the birth of her first of three children, and was still competing at age 34 in 1977.
Court was primarily an attacker, basing her game on a heavy serve and volley, and relying on athleticism and endurance.
Sometimes Court fell prey to nerves, as in her 1971 Wimbledon final defeat by the crowd's favorite, Evonne Goolagong; or the bizarre televised challenge by 55-year-old Bobby Riggs in 1973, which she lost implausibly and badly.

Hodges then filed for appointment of a receiver in the district court when she learned that Chase and Ramsey had filed a motion in the probate court seeking to lease real property that she alleged was part of the partnership property.
Although the court of appeals concluded that the transfer was proper because the personal representative of the Lesley Estate was a party to the partnership suit, it also concluded that the partnership suit was appertaining to the Lesley Estate because the partnership suit affected estate property.
While this is true, Ramsey is distinguishable from the present case because, as the court of appeals acknowledged, "Hodges had an interest in property controlled by the estate that would be affected by the administration, [and thus] she had a pecuniary interest in the probate proceedings." At the same time the Supreme Court is doing less with more, the new chief justice and many commentators are calling upon the court to decide as little as possible in those few cases it does have before it for full review.
But if the court is deciding considerably fewer cases, and if it is determined to settle as little controversy as possible in each case, then it is exerting only the most minimal supervisory control over the lower courts.
Rather than "one supreme Court" being in charge of the judicial branch, as the Constitution provides, the hundreds of lower court appellate judges and thousands of lower court trial judges are increasingly on their own to do as they see fit in broad areas of commercial, criminal and constitutional law.
