Margaret Hogg (died October in 1976) was a murder victim who became known as the Wasdale Lady in the Lake.
Hogg met her 19-years-older husband and murderer Peter Hogg while working as an airline stewardess for Air Europe, where Peter Hogg was a pilot for a Boeing 757.
Subsequently, the remains of Margaret Hogg were found by a diver Neil Pritt in March 1984, who initially thought them to be just an old carpet.

At the age of 20 Hogg was employed as a shepherd at a farm in Yarrow belonging to William Laidlaw, a relative of his mother's.
Hogg divided his energies between literature and farming, losing a great deal of money through a failed deal to buy a farm in Harris, and having little success with his own farm in Dumfriesshire.
Hogg, now apparently free from financial worries, became a regular contributor of stories to Blackwood's Magazine, and began writing novels, the first of which were "The Brownie of Bodsbeck" (1818), "The Three Perils of Man" (1822), and "The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner" (1824).
