Margaret herself attributes her deep respect for the Bible and inspirations of her artwork to the relationship with her Methodist grandmother.
In the 1960s, Margaret Keane's artwork was sold under the name of her husband of the time, Walter Keane, her second husband.

I got it from an estate in the San Francisco Bay Area that bought this from the Keanes (Margaret, I'm sure) in the 1960s.
It has 3 small scratches on the frame--2 on the top and 1 on the bottom and a.25 of an inch scratch on the print 9 inches from the upper right hand corner.

She (Margaret Keane) does many paintings that are very similar to one another and similar to paintings that were attributed to her former husband, Walter.
She sued for libel and during the trial executed one of these waif paintings in less than an hour in front of the jury.
After the two divorce, under what circumstances could Margaret continue to do paintings that, to use the characterization of the New York Times (Feb. 27, 1992), bear a "striking similarity" to works of the earlier period, works done by her former husband?
