Winkler was intrigued with the idea of a live-action girl in a cartoon world, and signed Disney to a year-long contract despite the fact that the studio that made the cartoon was now bankrupt.

It is the purpose of the writer to record as much as possible of the genealogy of the Winkler family, not with the intention of writing an elaborate history of their lives, but merely to record facts as to nationality, births, marriages, death, etc., that it may be handed down to descendants in future years.
Winkler and his son, they were happy in that dreary wilderness suffering serious dangers and privations, laboring hard, but looking forward to the time they would be happily settled in their new home.
Winkler is of a quiet, reserved disposition and highly esteemed by all who know him, and without doubt is one of the most critical judges of the noble horse engaged in the business today.

 Charles B. Mintz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Charles B. Mintz (1896 - January 4, 1940) was an American film producer and distributor, who took control over Margaret J. Winkler's Winkler Pictures after marrying her in 1924.
Mintz is noted for taking the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit series from Walt Disney in February 1928 and starting the Winkler Studio with Margaret Winkler's brother George to produce the films.
After losing the Oswald contract to Walter Lantz, Mintz focused on the output of another Winkler-distributed studio, the Krazy Kat studio, which became first the Mintz studio and later Screen Gems after Columbia Pictures took over the studio.

One of them, Margaret Winkler, agreed to distribute the series, with payment beginning at $1,500 per reel.
The pilot film was made in Kansas City; all 56 of the remaining films in the series were made in Hollywood.
Miss Winkler married Charles Mintz, and he continued to deal with Walt Disney until 1927, when Walt tired of combining live action and animation and Disney switched instead to the "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit" series.
