Margate is a small seaside town located on the Channel Highway between North-West Bay and the Snug Tiers, five kilometres (3.1 miles) south of Kingston in Tasmania.
The town has a population of 959 averaging a 7% decline (according to the 2001 census [1]).
Margate is part of the Kingbourough Municipality and is a frequent 'pit-stop' for those travelling south towards Snug, Kettering or Bruny Island.
