Auch der berühmte usbekische Schriftsteller Abdulla Kadiri hatte von dieser Stadt in seinem Roman "Die Liebenden von Taschkent" sehr viel erwähnt.
Deshalb wurden in den letzten Jahren auch in Margelan viele Lyzien und Berufsschulen aufgebaut.
Seit kurzem funktioniert in Margilan ein neues usbekisch-turkisches Gemeinschaftsunternehmen "Margilan-Textil", das mit modernsten Technologien ausgestattet ist.
