Somehow it manages to be about faith and spiritual strength, difficult enough in a sound film, astounding in a silent.
Watching Falconetti in the early scenes, as she tries to answer the questions without uttering heresy, you can see panic give way to inspiration, then to steely confidence, all reflected in her eyes.
Though the music on this disc is very good, I recommend watching the movie silent, as the rhythms of the editing are so powerful in and of themselves.
