Olympic silver medallist Marian Oprea currently in brilliant form, believes he is in shape to smash the World Indoor triple jump record before the end of the season.
Now Oprea who last weekend cleared 17.74m to move to fifth on the world indoor all-time list, is targeting the world record of 17.83m shared by Aliecer Urrutia and Christian Olsson.
Oprea his eyes firmly on succeeding the injured Olsson as world indoor champion next month, is confident the task is achievable after his latest victory.

Olsson, who had racked up 29 consecutive victories in 17 months, was beaten in his homeland by Romanian Marian Oprea but says it has given him extra motivation.
Olsson has dominated the triple jump since the retirement of Briton Jonathan Edwards and was regarded as one of the certainties for gold in Athens.
The world indoor record holder lost out by two centimetres when Oprea won in Stockholm with a jump of 17.30 metres.

Padua, Italy - Marian Oprea’s winning 17.56m in the men’s Triple Jump, and a confidence boosting win by Olympic champion Felix Sanchez over World titleholder Bershawn Jackson in the men’s 400m Hurdles highlighted the 20th anniversary edition of the EAA meeting in Padua, last night (1).
Romanian Marian Oprea, world and European bronze medallist, leapt to 17.56m, third on the world seasonal list, on his second attempt to strip Cuban Yoel Garcia of the meeting Triple Jump record (17.43) set in 1995.
In second place, Slovakian Dmitrij Valukevic produced a wind-assisted 17.34m, in a high-quality competition in which four men broke the 17 metres barrier, the others being USA's Aarik Wilson (17.19) and Italian outdoor and indoor record holder Fabrizio Donato (wind-assisted 17.16).

STOCKHOLM, July 28: World triple jump champion Christian Olsson was beaten into second place by Romanian Marian Oprea at an IAAF Super Grand Prix meeting on Tuesday, the first time the Swede has failed to win his event since February 2003.
Olsson could only jump 17.28 metres on his home ground, two centimetres behind Oprea's winning 17.30 leap.
I was a little stiff in the legs coming from Paris," said Olsson, who won with a jump of 17.41 at the Paris Golden League meeting last Friday.
