Mother of two boys and one girl, all of whom went to Earl of March, MarianneWilkinson and her family have lived in Kanata for 33 years.
When Marianne first moved to Kanata, she was very impressed with the community, immediately serving as a Community Association Director and volunteer reporter of Council news for the Kanata Standard (then a monthly news-sheet).
MarianneWilkinson remains concerned about the traffic situation and would like to see key roads built (Castlefrank overpass, completion of Terry Fox Drive, and improvements to the Queensway intersections), and the Ottawa School Board deal with its excess school capacity inside the Greenbelt, so funding can be obtained for needed schools in Kanata.
MarianneWilkinson has spent her adult life as a motivated, effective community leader and builder.
Marianne has received the Queen's Golden Jubilee medal and in 2005 was nominated for a YWCA Woman of Distinction award.
The entire Wired Woman organization is very excited to have Marianne on board and feel extremely fortunate to have her donate her time and talent to revitalize the Ottawa Chapter.
The large collection of modern art went into storage, and Wilkinson's first major public job is to put it back on view.
There must be a private story for the name, but "Tom" is a small moment in the history of art to which many of us attach our own histories and perceptual growth, and to which we return again and again, as well as to other works in the collection, to ritually mark our growing sticks.
There are serious critical questions raised throughout the galleries about how to accurately and imaginatively present art to the public, and Wilkinson and her team have had many points of view to consider.
