The connection with Johann Sebastian Bach is that Müntzer was preaching from the main church of Mühlhausen, the Marienkirche (picture on the right), in which Bach's famous "Ratswechselkantate" Gott ist mein König, BWV 71, was performed on February 4, 1708.
The minister of the Marienkirche, Georg Christian Eilmar (1665-1715) was the godfather of Bach's first child, Catharina Dorothea, born in Weimar six months after Bach's departure from Mühlhausen (The name of Eilmar's daughter was Anna Dorothea).
When the building of the Marienkirche stagnated in the 14th century, due to all kinds of quarrels and the plague, the blame was put on the Jews, who were badly persecuted here in 1349.

Since I recognized the twin towers of Buxtehude's Marienkirche (picture on the right) and since I knew that there was a parking garage in its vicinity, I ignored several "no entrance" traffic signs and took what I thought was the shortest route to the church.
The two towers of the Marienkirche are not like the typical Gothic church tower you see elsewhere in Europe, but gigantic versions of towers you usually only see with village churches.
The Marienkirche is squeezed between the Mengstrasse with Thomas Mann's Buddenbrooks House and Lübeck's characteristic Gothic town hall with its series of minaret-like towers.

We don't know whether Bach had his eye on the Marienkirche position, which, as Handel had found out two years earlier, would have entailed marrying Buxtehude's much-older daughter upon her father's retirement.
In any event, the prospect of meeting, hearing, and learning from the much-revered Buxtehude was more than sufficient reason to make the journey; Bach probably brought with him some of his own compositions that were modeled on those of the older master.
In addition he would have attended not only the Marienkirche's worship services, but also, perhaps, some of Buxtehude's Abendmusiken, a series of evening concerts held at the church.
