 Marin
Biagio Marin (Grado 1891-1985) had an initial experience similar to Giotti's; he too moved to Florence, in 1911, and was in contact with the people from Venezia Giulia.
His poetry winds endlessly over a stretch of land inhabited by the wind and the seagulls, the tides and the light, the clouds and the smell of algae.
Marin's poetry is a miraculous synthesis of abstraction and sensuality, of absolute transparencies and lust for life." These are the words of Claudio Magris, one of the most thoughtful and insightful readers of Marin, one who has been able to read the poet in his essence.

 Common Ground: Wind Catchers
Even in eco-progressive Marin County, several neighbors were up in arms when they learned that Pasternak planned to install his Danish-built Vestas-15 wind turbine (a horizontal, three-rotor system capable of producing 65kW) atop an 80-foot tower — the minimal height necessary for significant power production.
Given the fact that Marin is considering purchasing 51 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2012, residents might have to become a bit more open-minded about wind turbines.
One reason small wind turbines haven’t caught on yet is that vertical-axis machines and small home-sized wind turbines have failed to receive the financial investment accorded to solar photovoltaics (PV) and large horizontal-axis propeller turbines.

I had run a successful trial the previous year using plastic tunnels to protect the plants from cold and frost and went one step further this time by laying down fl plastic mulch to help warm the soil around the plants underneath the tunnels.
The wind got under the plastic tunnels and under much of the mulch as well, dragging many of the 300 foot long strips across the field, with thousands of tomato plants caught in the twisted plastic or dragged into and submerged in flooded furrows.
The upwind side of many were still anchored in the soil, but the downwind side was free, flapping in the gale force wind and sending sheets of spray skyward with each snap.
