The Marina Freeway is a short freeway in southwestern Los Angeles, California and the nearby suburbs.
The freeway runs from Slauson Avenue in southern Culver City to Culver Boulevard in Marina Del Rey, although it begins as an expressway further west at Lincoln Boulevard.
Originally planned as the Slauson Freeway, Route 90 Freeway was slated to extend across southern Los Angeles County and northern Orange County, ending at the Riverside Freeway in eastern Anaheim.

California 90 is split into two parts: the Marina Freeway between California 1 and just east of Interstate 405 and the Richard Nixon Parkway in Orange County in Yorba Linda.
The city decided that it did not want the word "freeway" associated with its parkway at all, so it removed all such references that Caltrans had previously put up on signage, including cutting the "freeway entrance" signs off the top of the freeway entrance sign assemblies for the Kellogg Drive on and off ramps.

While the freeway was still in the planning stages in the early 1970's, this block of text appears in the Houston/Harris County Transportation Plan, published in November 1971.
This freeway was to begin at the southwest corner of 610 and then proceed south and south-southwestward towards Bay City, which is south-southwest of Houston.
I tend to agree with the cancellation of the freeway south of Beltway 8.

Marina del Rey is convenient to the 405, 10 and 105 freeways, and Lincoln Boulevard (Route 1).

California 90 is split into two segments: the Marina Freeway segment between California 1 and Interstate 405 in Los Angeles County and the Imperial Highway.
The freeway was completed through the 1970s and 1980s, and today it carries a great deal of traffic en route to Barstow and Las Vegas to the north and San Diego to the south.

Look how the Marina freeway curves north west, it would probably be a lot better to go straight along Balona Creek to Lincoln, right over the new Playa Vista homes built on methane pockets,.which has no business except EA and migrating birds.
The County can't really get away with telling the Marina folks "tough shit" but it seems that the extension of Route 90 is imminent unless the opponents raise political hell and get some good lawyers to challenge the project on environmental grounds.
At the root of my comment is the fact that the Marina Freeway should not be extended to Admiralty because that would absolutely excacerbate the traffic congestion for coastal communities.
