The North Atlantic Marine Mammal Commission (NAMMCO) is an "international body for co-operation on conservation, management and study of marine mammals in the North Atlantic."
The organisation came about because the nations were (and continue to be) unhappy with the international management of cetaceans and other marine mammals by the International Whaling Commission.
NAMMCO was founded in Nuuk, Greenland on 9 April 1992 by the signators to Agreement on Cooperation in Research, Conservation and Management of Marine Mammals in the North Atlantic.

After Johnson’s death in 1932, Bill checked his unpublished manuscript “List of Marine Mollusca of the Atlantic Coast from Labrador to Texas”, which was published in 1934.
As a result of his enthusiasm for mollusks, his interest in people, and his ability to communicate at all levels (verbally or by letter), he was the idol of amateurs everywhere.
Clench published at least 420 scientific papers; was the founder and editor of Johnsonia, Monographs of Western Atlantic Marine Mollusks, and Occasional Papers on Mollusks, published by the department.
