  IL BRACCIO ARMATO DELLO STATO: IL PERIODO SCELBIANO FRA STORIA E MEMORIA.
Mario Scelba, democristiano, viene designato al Ministero degli interni nei primi mesi del 1947 e vi rimarrà fino al 1953.
Scelba non era e non era mai stato un fascista, era un figlio politico di Don Sturzo, un popolare prima ed un democristiano poi; tanto è vero che nel 1950 pose al consiglio dei ministri l’esigenza di avere norme in attuazione delle disposizioni costituzionali contro la ricostituzione del partito fascista.
Scelba, secondo la sua formazione da popolare, pensava che bisognasse sì concedere qualcosa, ma in una concessione, appunto, in senso paternalistico, dall’alto e per decisione statale., proteggendo così gli industriali da rivendicazioni giudicate troppo violente e da qualsiasi tipo di "confusione" che potesse disturbarli.

Mario Scelba che era avverso (e avversario) di Gronchi soprattutto in virtù delle posizioni in politica estera del democristiano toscano.
