Marion County is a county located in the U.S. state of Indiana.
In the county the population is spread out with 25.80% under the age of 18, 10.00% from 18 to 24, 32.90% from 25 to 44, 20.20% from 45 to 64, and 11.10% who are 65 years of age or older.
Marion County has a consolidated city-county government, in which only four municipalities retain a measure of government autonomy (including a mayor and city council) as "excluded cities" (in addition to Indianapolis, which has its own administration in addition to city-county consolidated government).

The demographic characteristics of persons most frequently injured by fireworks in Marion County are consistent with national findings and with previous studies from Washington state (2-4).
For example, during the 1988 Independence Day holiday period, Marion County had the fewest number of fireworks-related injuries for 1986-1991; at the same time, however, a severe drought in Indiana prompted local public safety officials to discourage fireworks use -- a message that was well publicized by the local media.
In addition, all Marion County hospitals receive an overall report on the incidence of fireworks-related injuries and associated health-care concerns.

The Indianapolis Star said as many as 3,376 Indianapolis residents were removed from precinct polling lists because of an error by state elections officials.
Indiana's secretary of state issued a list of more than 54,000 deceased voters statewide and Marion County officials used it to purge their poll books.
