Painters Of Florence - Mariotto Albertinelli
Chief among these was Mariotto Albertinelli, or, as his family was originally called, Bertinelli, He was born in Florence on the 13th of October, 1474, and, after practising his father's trade of gold-beater for several years, was apprenticed to Cosimo Rosselli, and learnt painting from this master and his more distinguished assistant, Piero di Cosimo.
Mariotto consented, and introduced the portraits of Gerozzo and of the master of the hospital among the blessed, and of himself and his scholar Giuliano Bugiardini among the dead who rise from their tombs at the trumpet-sound.
Mariotto's natural dislike of monks and friars, however, had been only increased by the loss of his friend, and the poor Carthusians found him and his assistants very troublesome guests.

Fra Bartolommeo - ALBERTINELLI IN THE WORLD. (by Leader Scott)
Mariotto left Fra Bartolommeo’s house in S. Pier Gattolini, and took a room in Gualfonda–now Via Val Fonda–a street leading towards the fortress, built by the Grand Duke Cosimo on the north of the city; and here in time quite a school grew up under his tuition.
Albertinelli’s Bottega in Val Fonda gave some noble paintings to the world, works independently his own, though Fra Bartolommeo’s influence is traceable in most of them.
Albertinelli was also to have a mass said yearly in the Church of S. Pier Gattolini for the soul of Paolo the muleteer, and to use two pounds of wax candles thereat.

Mariotto Albertinelli - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mariotto di Bigio di Bindo Albertinelli (October 13, 1474 - November 5, 1515) was a Florentine painter of the High Renaissance, closely involved with Fra Bartolomeo and influenced by Raphael.
Vasari's opinion was that Mariotto was not so well grounded in drawing as Bartolomeo, and he tells that, to improve his hand he had taken to drawing the antiquities in the Medici garden, where he was encouraged by Madonna Alfonsina, the mother of Duke Lorenzo II de' Medici.
Albertinelli's paintings bear the imprint of Perugino's sense of volumes in space and perspective, Fra Bartolomeo's coloring, the landscape portrayal of Flemish masters like Memling, and Leonardo's sfumato technique.

Meanwhile Mariotto was revelling in the Eden of art, drawing daily beneath the Loggie--where the orange-trees grew close to the pillars-- from the exquisite statues and "torsi," peopling the shades with white forms, or copying cartoons by the older masters, which hung against the walls.
He pined for his old friend, Mariotto, who could follow out his designs in his own style so closely, that an unpractised eye could not see the difference of hand; and such was his influence on the rulers of the order, that they allowed a most unique partnership to be entered into.
During these three years Albertinelli's star seems merged in that of his senior, his hand is to be recognised in the lower parts of a few altarpieces; but it is always difficult to distinguish the two styles.

There were great complaints on the subject among the friars, for in questions of eating they are as quick to feel as others; but the boys doing it dexterously, and being supposed honest, the blame was laid on some of the friars, until at last one day the thing was found out.
