After that, crew members are expected to offer 100 hours of volunteer service a year for the right to take the annual sail on the Star of India, crew on the Californian (which sails regularly) or be ready to serve on the Surprise when it returns to the water in 2007.

The preliminary application package and updated site plan is the first step towards the site plan and subdivision approval for the $75 million Maritime Village development at the former Mason Station site.
The most significant changes in the preliminary plan are a 79-lot subdivision for single-family residential homes, instead of the originally proposed cluster condominium homes on the southern point of the site.
