Mark Blumsky was elected mayor of Wellington in 1995 and relected in 1998.
Mark Blumsky retired in 2001 and endorsed then deputy mayor Kerry Prendergast as his successor.

In 1995, she became Deputy Mayor under Mark Blumsky.
In 2001, Prendergast had considered making another attempt on the national political scene, but when Blumsky announced his retirement, she instead opted to pursue the mayoralty with his endorsement.
She became Mayor in the 2001 local-body election, and in October 2004 gained re-election for a second term.

A direct comparison is not entirely fair: Blumsky's leaflet is clearly electionaring, while Hobbs' is more of a newsletter (which - judging by the House of Representatives logo accompanying every Labour logo - is probably funded by Parliamentary Service).
Blumsky's leaflet looks a lot more professional than Hobbs', although the format is similar to the countless real estate agent leaflets that arrive almost daily.

This is the third major increase, and the fourth step will be the response to the Western Corridor report - which Blumsky seems ignorant of, saying that the announcement ignored the issue when it's mentioned more than once.
What is strange about this is that Mark used to be quite well connected with what was going on in Wellington.
