	Mark Goodier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Mark Goodier (born 28th June 1961 in Rhodesia) is one of the most familiar voices on British radio.
		Mark Goodier was educated at George Heriot's School, in Edinburgh, Scotland.
		Goodier was a hit with listeners on the "Liz and Mark" weekend breakfast show, and he quickly progressed to a teatime slot.

		In August 2002, the BBC stated that Mark would be leaving Radio 1 in December after 15 years and that there will be a "new look chart and presenter who is yet to be confirmed".
		In an interview, Mark said that he'd had "a great time at Radio 1 but felt that his 15-year anniversary was a good time to move on" He also said that he would like to present a show on BBC Radio 2.

		Goodier joined BBC Radio 1 on Boxing Day 1987, and he was the first presenter of the Evening Session programme from 1991, in which he helped bands like Suede get their first radio plays.
		Goodier was lured to Classic FM by station controller Roger Lewis, a Radio 1 executive in his early days with the station.
		Goodier's move to Classic FM is startling compared to the progress of his contemporaries at BBC Radio 1.

		Mark studied English and American Studies and Classical Civilisation at Manchester University before starting his first job as a 'junior assistant dogsbody producer" with Piccadilly radio in 1979 "for the princely sum of 2,600 a year, which doesn't sound a lot now and wasn't a lot then!" he says.
		In 1983 Mark went to London to be a producer at Radio 1 FM, where he produced 'Saturday Live' and sessions with John Peel.
		Two years later, Mark returned to the BBC to work as a popular Music Producer at BBC North where he worked on programmes such as Martin Kelner's Saturday Night for Radio 2 plus In Concert and documentaries for Radio 1.

	Ride - Waves
		Recorded between 1990 and 1994, when Ride rose at lightning speed from darlings of the weekly music press to selling out arena-sized venues at the drop of a hat, WAVES documents the five sessions the band recorded for BBC Radio 1.
		Running in chronological order, with John Peel sessions that included early classics like DECAY and LIKE A DAYDREAM, through to the retro-psychedelia of BIRDMAN and CROWN OF CREATION (recorded for Mark Goodier), this makes for an interesting glimpse into how the band sounded raw and stripped of their studio production.
		Of course, one ill-fated album later (TARANTULA) and it was all over, but not before leaving a legacy that has seen everyone from Oasis to REM, the Smashing Pumpkins to the Chemical Brothers, and the Flaming Lips to Coldplay step up to pay tribute.
