The name for this new station was to have been Seething Lane but by the time it opened on 6th October 1884 it had been renamed Mark Lane.
The station had two platforms with an entrance at the comer of Byward Street and Seething Lane.
In 1957 there was a plan to improve the station by providing better lighting and widening the platforms but these proposals were not implemented, although three years later London Transport suggested closing the station altogether and rebuilding on the site of the original Tower of London Station.

It was originally just a means of doing something constructive with a box of old tube photos re-discovered during a clean out.
They and many other books of historical interest are available from the bookshop at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden, which should be the first port of call for anyone wanting further information about London's abandoned stations.

Line (tube line) is central and convenient, especially on the west side of town.

 Feb 16 - the tube, buses and forks
Location was bit further from the tube station than I expected, but it was a quiet neighbourhood, the hotel is clean, it included a full English breakfast and the staff are friendly.
There is of course Victoria train station, Victoria coach station, which are both only 2 blocks away.
Took the bus back to Victoria Station, along the way, the bus passed many of the famous sites that I plan to see on this trip.
